LEYDENS VALE 2010 SHIRAZ

The Leydens Vale series of wines takes their name from John Leyden, one of the original land holders in the Pyrenees region of central / western Victoria in the 1890’s.

REGION
Pyrenees, Western Victoria, Australia.

COLOUR
Displays a bright ruby red colour.

BOUQUET
The opulent aroma shows regional blueberry, pepper and spice, backed by lifted vanillan oak.

PALATE
The flavours are sweet cherry fruit, beguiling spices and forest like leafy notes, surrounding the sweet vanillan core.

Winemaker’s Notes
Shiraz produces some of Australia’s finest dry red wines especially from regions that allow the development of ripe Shiraz berry flavours whilst the sugar and tannin levels remain in balance. The Pyrenees is one such region and the 2009 / 2010 grape growing season consisted of a cool wet winter and spring followed by a mild summer and autumn , providing good crops and cool climate accentuated red wines. Maturation for 18 months in French and American barrels has enhanced and softened this wine.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS
Try this wine with kangaroo fillets, lamb dishes or mature cheeses.

CELLARING
This is a soft dry red that is drinking well now but will also reward short term cellaring.
